Did you ever think when you brought your son or daughter home from the hospital that they would grow up, graduate and move on their jouney? Of coure, as a parent, we all know it will happen, but where did all those years go? They flew by.
I know when I show our senior premier slideshow at the studio, many moms (and dads) shed a few tears wondering how their babies grew up so quickly. It’s an emotional time for us as parents. I know I shed many tears when my two boys graduated.
Graduation day for both the parents and teenager is a BIG day. Getting their diploma and saying farewell to their classmates and teachers is bittersweet.
Then there is the celebration. The accomplishment of 13 successful years. I have had many senior parents ask about graduation parties in the past years and I decided to write tips and ideas for the perfect celebration.
Announcements – By now, I am sure you have ordered the announcements. If not, there is still time. The reccommended time to mail announcements out is 4 weeks prior to graduation day.
Thank you Cards – Don’t wait, the perfect time to send thank you cards out is RIGHT AWAY. The longer you wait, the easier it is to procrastinate. Send them out the week after graduation.
Tips on decorations, food, and the perfect graduation gifts to follow this blog.
Here is the photoshoot we did earlier this year. I had this concept, and our 2016 Senior Model Riley Clairmont was the perfect one for the shoot with her artistic flair. she had the perfect color of dress which was what we built the flower crown around. I wanted something artistic and mysterious, and was happy with the end result.
Now that we talked about graduation announcements and thank you cards, what about the food? Do you cater? Do you do a pot luck? Do you make your own?
If you prepare your own food, Keep It Simple. Prepare as much of the food in advance as you can. Big Box stores like Costco are perfect for a big event such as this. Its the perfect place to get bulk plastic ware, plates, cups, food, and the graduation cake. You want to enjoy this big event and visit with the guests as much as the graduate does. Here are some great ideas for food ideas:
- Taco Bar
- Italian – Pasta & Sauces
- Bbq beef sandwiches
- Sloppy Jo’s
- Sandwich Bar
- Dessert Bar
- Candy Bar
Catering. This is great, but if you can afford it, go for it. Here are some local places including the links to the website that do a wonderful job catering:
This last year, we had 14 amazing Seniors work with us as our 2016 Models. They did a few different model shoots for us, and we have 2 more scheduled in the next few weeks before they graduate and venture on their next journey in life.
Here are a few of our favorite shots from our summer Model shoot.
What did I do this last week? Spent 5 days in Sunny California at the VYB workshop. Ok, well part of it at a workshop, the last couple of days with family.
I had the priveledge photographing 3 stunning high school models wearing the latest trends in the industry, florals and denim with Pantone’s 2016 color of the year.
The first outfits on all 3 girls included denim with a splash a splash of color. Then the pastel dresses…the models rocked the spring trends. I absolutely loved all of the outfits. The girls were from different schools, not knowing eachother, but you wouldn’t have known it. They all acted like best friends, laughing, and having a great time getting ready with the makeup artist and then out on location.
For the first time ever, Pantone introduced a blending of 2 color shades (Rose Quartz and Serenity). Beautiful pastel colors to compliment eachother.
Denim on Denim is hot this year. There are 8 trends to follow according to Popsugar.
- Cropped Jeans
- Kick-Flare Jeans
- Flared Jeans
- Deeply Distressed Denim
- Optic-White Denim
- Raw-Edge Jeans
- Fringed Jeans
- Embellished Jeans
Love love love, the Pastel florals with the pantone colors. The pastel dresses are HOT HOT HOT this spring.
Love this seasons trend? Wait until you see our photoshoot from this weeks session that we will be posting in the next couple of days. We will feature 3 models from sunny Sacramento, CA wearing denim and florals.
We are offering 2 different promotions this month. Our signature Teddy Bears & Tutus Mini session, and our Valentine’s Mini session.
There are the 2 sets to choose from, and each session is 15 minutes long. The promotion is available for 3 days only, so book early as space is limited.
Available for children ages 1-6.
Do you love winter? Are you a fan of snow?
I LOVE this time of year, and have enjoyed this season in particular with all the snowfall. I took advantage of the weather and photographed a Winter Wonderland shoot with 3 of our beautiful 2016 Models near the bitterroot river in the majestic Bitterroot valley of Montana. The girls braved the cold and we had a great time.
We are happy to announce that next week marks the beginning of our 3rd annual baby model contest. It will be running November 16-30th. The winner will be announced by December 4th. Details about how to enter the contest will be announced on November 16th.
If you have a baby born between December 1, 2014 – November 30, 2015, or know of anyone that has a baby born during those dates, be sure to watch our facebook page and spread the word. We are excited to announce that the winner will be receiving a free photo session photographed in our new studio location and a 16×20 canvas.
This week we will be featuring a few of the many many babies that we have photographed in the last year.
Babies are so precious and this particular baby is no exception…I just loved his little toes.
Jeff & Liz had a memorable wedding at the Stone Tower Estate, nesteled in the majestic Bitterroot Valley. They couldn’t have asked for a more amaing day as the weather was absolutely perfect. Liz had a georgous dress and smiled all day long. The wedding ceremony was beautiful. We loved listening to the stories of how these two met and how their love story unfolded. The wedding reception was alot of fun and once the music started, the dancing lasted for the rest of the evening.
Congratulations Jeff & Liz. We truly loved being at your wedding and thank you for allowing us to document the your special day. We wish you many years of happiness!
